Kindling Bag

£6.00

Product Description

Each piece of kindling is carefully sized to ensure it’s ideal for starting fires. The typical length of each piece is likely to be in the range of 15-20 cm, making it suitable for most fireplaces and stoves.

The 20-litre bag is generously filled, providing a substantial amount of kindling. This should be sufficient for multiple fire-starting sessions, depending on individual usage.

Usage Tips

  • Prepare Your Base: Start by laying a base for your fire. This can be a few firelighters, or any natural fire starter.
  • Arrange the Kindling: Place the kindling over your base in a structured manner. There are several effective methods:
    • Teepee Method: Arrange the kindling sticks in a teepee shape over the base. This allows air to circulate freely, feeding the fire oxygen.
    • Log Cabin Method: Stack the kindling in an alternating grid pattern, resembling a log cabin. This provides a sturdy structure for the fire to grow.
  • Leave Air Gaps: Regardless of the method, ensure there are gaps between the kindling pieces.
  • Light the Base: Ignite the base (firelighters) at multiple points.
  • Gradually Add More Kindling: As the kindling starts to burn and create a steady flame, gradually add more kindling.
  • Add Larger Pieces Gradually: Once the kindling has created a strong, steady flame, begin to add larger pieces of wood. Start with smaller, thinner pieces and gradually work up to larger logs.
  • Use Dry Kindling: Moisture is the enemy of a good fire. Ensure your kindling is dry for the best results. The kindling from recycled pallets, as in your case, is typically well-dried and ideal for this purpose.
